David & Claire's Story
High school sweethearts, David and Claire had high hopes and dreams as they started their lives together. Their marriage of four years had been filled with joy and stress. They are proud parents of two lovely daughters, Audrey and Isabella. They are the reason Claire and David are working together to provide a stable and loving home for their children.
David and Claire are native Coloradans. Claire is a graduate of University of Colorado-Boulder, and David completed three years there with hopes of one day completing his degree. During their years as students working low paying jobs, they found their debts piling up with college expenses and the high cost of living. As their financial situation worsened, they moved in with family to get back on their feet. Their plans to move to Fort Collins for education and job opportunities were changed when they discovered they were expecting a baby.
David and Claire reflected on that time. "We were overcome with desperation and sadness regarding our financial situation and we were so relieved when we found out about CARE Housing. It is a resource that has allowed us stability." David continued, "Living here doesn't make us feel as if we have done something wrong. We have our pride back and it really has been a blessing. It is an incredible resource and a stepping stone for our future." Claire adds, "We were so frantic to just make it and now we have a more reasonable expectation about allocating our resources and getting out of debt."
CARE Housing, Inc. provided their affordable housing in a safe and supportive environment. With this stability, David and Claire were able to start planning for the future. CARE Housing was a temporary resource and they have since moved into market-rate housing.
